Over the last decade, the dream of playing games across different platforms has become a reality, unifying the *Call of Duty* community. However, crossplay, while bringing players together, also has its drawbacks. Here's a detailed guide on how to disable crossplay in *Black Ops 6* and why you might want to consider it.
The decision to disable crossplay in *Black Ops 6* is a nuanced one, offering both advantages and drawbacks. The primary reason players might opt to disable crossplay is to ensure a more balanced and fair gameplay experience. Console players on Xbox and PlayStation often seek to avoid competing against PC players due to the significant differences in input methods.
If you're playing on a console, you might consider turning off crossplay to level the playing field. PC players benefit from using a mouse and keyboard, which provides a more precise aiming mechanism compared to a controller. Additionally, PC players might have easier access to mods and cheats, despite *Call of Duty*'s Ricochet Anti-Cheat system. Players of *Black Ops 6* and *Warzone* have reported encountering numerous hackers and cheaters. Disabling crossplay could theoretically reduce the number of cheaters you face in your matches.
However, there's a significant downside to disabling crossplay in *Call of Duty*. By limiting your matchmaking pool, you reduce the number of potential opponents, which can lead to longer wait times for matches and potentially poorer connection quality between players.

Disabling crossplay in *Black Ops 6* is a straightforward process. You can find the Crossplay and Crossplay Communications toggle at the top of the Account & Network settings. Navigate to these settings and press X or A to switch the toggle from On to Off. This adjustment can be made from within *Black Ops 6*, *Warzone*, or the main *Call of Duty* HQ page. Note that in the image above, the Crossplay setting was accessed by favoriting it and placing it in Quick Settings.
You may find the setting greyed out and locked at times, particularly in modes like Ranked Play. Previously, *Call of Duty* forced crossplay in certain modes, which was intended to promote fairness but often had the opposite effect. Fortunately, starting from Season 2 of *Black Ops 6*, players will have the option to disable crossplay, giving them more control over their gaming experience in the game's most competitive modes.
