Disney+ Renews Spider-Man Animated Series for Seasons 2 and 3

Marvel's Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the Disney+ animated series chronicling Peter Parker's freshman year, has received early renewals for both Seasons 2 and 3.

Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming, television, and animation, revealed in an interview with The Movie Podcast that Season 2's scripts are complete, with storyboards already half-finished, even before Season 1's premiere on January 29th. Season 3 has also been greenlit.

Winderbaum expressed his enthusiasm for the show, stating, "I've fallen so head over heels in love with these characters...we're halfway through the animatics." He highlighted the show's narrative structure, emphasizing the payoff for viewers invested in the characters' development throughout the series. He anticipates this emotional connection will deepen with each subsequent season.

While Winderbaum confirmed upcoming meetings with lead writer and executive producer Jeff Trammell to discuss Season 3's plot, he remained tight-lipped about release dates for both Seasons 2 and 3.

The series focuses on Peter Parker's high school experiences as he develops his superpowers. Whether the subsequent seasons will follow Peter chronologically through his high school years or explore alternative storylines remains to be seen.
