The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the well-known Dark and Darker, have officially announced the cessation of support and the impending closure of the game's servers. Launched with much anticipation, Dungeonborne unfortunately struggled to maintain its player base, primarily due to insufficient player engagement and a dearth of substantial updates. This led to the game's lifecycle being cut short, lasting less than a year.
While Dungeonborne's page on Steam remains visible, it has been delisted from the platform's search functionality and can only be accessed through a direct link. Although the official reasons for the shutdown remain undisclosed, it's evident that the game's critically low player numbers were a significant factor. Since the latter part of 2024, Dungeonborne has seen a peak of just 200 concurrent players, with recent figures plummeting to a mere 10-15 players.
The servers for Dungeonborne are set to be permanently closed on May 28, marking the end of the project's journey. What began with promise among fans of the genre will now quietly recede into gaming history, unable to fulfill its potential due to these challenges.
