The game director of The Blood Of Dawnwalker explained why he quit CDPR and opened his own studio

After the releases of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, several CD Projekt RED veterans, including the team behind The Blood of Dawnwalker, chose to pursue independent projects.

Recently unveiled, The Blood of Dawnwalker is developed by Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by a CD Projekt RED veteran.

Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, explaining his departure from CDPR, cited several key reasons:

A desire for creative independence and collaboration with friends fueled the founding of Rebel Wolves. The team shares a deep passion for RPGs and their history, but believes existing RPG mechanics can be significantly evolved and expanded upon. They developed several innovative ideas, but recognized that implementing such radical changes within a large corporation, particularly with new intellectual property, would be extremely challenging. Therefore, establishing their own studio became necessary to realize their ambitious vision. This approach, while inherently risky, allows for experimentation with novel solutions.

Rebel Wolves prioritizes strong interpersonal relationships and open communication within its small team. This fosters a collaborative environment where sharing a vision and discussing ideas is straightforward. The smaller scale facilitates a stronger sense of "creative fire" and makes developing unique concepts more achievable than in larger, more complex studio structures.
