Ever download an app and promptly forget about it? Google Play Store may have the answer. A new feature reportedly in the works will automatically launch newly installed apps.
The Details
Android Authority reports Google Play is developing a feature to streamline app installation. This would automatically open the app immediately after download completion. No more hunting for icons or wondering about download status – the app will launch directly.
This isn't official yet. The information comes from an APK teardown of Play Store version 41.4.19, meaning it's unconfirmed and lacks a release date. If released, it'll likely be called "App Auto Open" and will be entirely optional, allowing users to enable or disable the auto-launch function as needed.
How will it work? A notification banner will appear at the screen's top for approximately five seconds upon download completion. Your phone may also vibrate or chime, ensuring you won't miss it.
This is still unofficial, so a release date is unavailable. We'll update you with official information from Google as it becomes available.
