Phasmophobia's Haunted Mirror Guide

by Benjamin Feb 07,2026

In the hunt to identify and defeat the most challenging ghosts in Phasmophobia, the occasional use of Cursed Possessions is a high-risk, high-reward strategy. The Haunted Mirror is particularly effective. Here’s everything you need to know about how it works.

Using the Haunted Mirror in Phasmophobia

The Haunted Mirror is widely considered the safest Cursed Object in Phasmophobia, as the information it provides far outweighs its potential danger. Its core function has remained consistent across updates, making it a highly recommended find during any investigation.

This item reveals the ghost's current favorite room by displaying a panoramic view of that location. For players familiar with the map, this knowledge allows for a faster setup of equipment before the situation becomes perilous.

You'll typically find the Haunted Mirror hanging on a wall or placed on the floor in a predetermined location on each map. While a specific Cursed Object's spawn point is fixed, which one appears is random.

To use it, pick up the mirror and press the interact button to hold it up. Its reflection will show the ghost's favored room. Be aware that on Professional difficulty or higher, ghosts may change their location after a set time.

Exercise caution: prolonged use drains your sanity. Holding it until it shatters will trigger a Cursed Hunt at your current position. Use it when your sanity is high and be sure you understand what you're seeing in the reflection.

Cursed Possessions, often called "Cursed Objects," are unique items that can spawn randomly on any map, depending on your difficulty settings or if you're in a Challenge Mode.

Unlike standard equipment for gathering evidence with minimal risk, Cursed Objects act as powerful shortcuts to manipulate the ghost, but they come with significantly higher danger.

Some Cursed Objects are safer to use than others. It's entirely up to you and your team to decide if the benefit is worth the risk, as there is no penalty for ignoring them. Typically, only one spawns per contract unless Custom game rules are applied.

There are seven different Cursed Objects in the game:
