Guide: Accessing Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Since Fields of Mistria entered Early Access on Steam, the Deep Woods area has been a tantalizing mark on the town map, but it remained inaccessible until the game's March 2025 update. Here's how you can access the Deep Woods and locate Caldarus in Fields of Mistria.

How To Unlock the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

To unlock the Deep Woods, you must break the Fire Seal and utilize the new Dragon's Breath spell to burn away the vines that conceal the area. Start by gathering four specific items to place on the Priestess' Fire Seal altar located on Floor 60 of the mines: a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three items are scattered between floors 50 and 59, while acquiring the Sealing Scroll requires collaboration with Juniper and Balor.

To assist Balor in obtaining the Sealing Scroll, deposit the following items in the bin by his wagon:

• 10 Silver Ingots
• 10 Rubies
• 10 Sapphires
• 10 Emeralds

Once you've fulfilled these requirements, speak to Balor again. He'll inform you that the Sealing Scroll will be ready the next day, allowing you to complete the offering.

After breaking the seal, the Priestess unexpectedly urges you to flee before the Sealing Scroll traps you inside. As your health dwindles, you'll call for help, and Caldarus will appear in his human form, guiding you to his temple in the Deep Woods for recovery.

Caldarus will then task you with finding him at his temple, granting you the Dragon's Breath spell. This spell is essential for burning through the vines blocking the Deep Woods entrance. To use it, equip Dragon's Breath from the pause menu and activate it while standing in front of the entrance. This action will permanently unlock the Deep Woods and potentially other areas hidden by similar barriers.

How To Find Caldarus

After breaking the Fire Seal, you can locate Caldarus inside his temple in the Deep Woods. The temple is situated north of the Eastern Road on your map. To reach it, you'll need to use the Dragon's Breath spell to access the area. Caldarus' precise location will be marked on your map like other NPCs, and you can find him in the northeast corner of the area.

To navigate to Caldarus, enter the Deep Woods, turn right, and use your axe to remove a stump blocking your path. Continue north until you reach the temple, where Caldarus awaits inside.

Once the Deep Woods are unlocked, you can use the Dragon Statue on your farm to fast travel to this area and visit Caldarus. The teleportation costs just 10 Essence, offering a convenient way to save time compared to traveling by foot or horseback.

You can also interact with Caldarus through his statue, albeit in spirit.
