The Nintendo Switch 2 wouldn't be complete without a new Zelda adventure, and today's Nintendo Direct unveiled an exciting addition to the franchise: a new Hyrule Warriors game titled "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment." Developed by Koei Tecmo, this game serves as a prequel to "Tears of the Kingdom" and is set to launch this winter.
"Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment" dives into the ancient history of the "Tears of the Kingdom" universe, featuring a cast of characters such as Zelda, Rauru, Sonia, and other Secret Stone holders. The game narrates Zelda's journey after she travels back in time, where she allies with the last Zonai members—Rauru, his sister Mineru, and his wife Sonia—to battle Ganondorf and his forces.

The trailer showcased the unique abilities of these champions, including Mineru piloting a mech, Zelda wielding powerful magic, Rauru with his distinctive sword-spear, and brief appearances of other Sacred Stone wielders.
This marks the third installment in the Hyrule Warriors series, following the original "Hyrule Warriors" and "Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity." The latter, which served as a prequel to "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild," offered a slightly unexpected narrative twist. Given our high praise for "Age of Calamity," rating it 9/10 and describing it as "a joy to play and discover" and "a blast from start to finish," fans are eager to see how "Age of Imprisonment" will innovate and surprise.
