Insomniac's Resistance 4 Pitch Rejected

by Alexander Apr 07,2025

In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Insomniac Games' founder and outgoing president, Ted Price, shared insights into his career and the projects that never saw the light of day. As Price prepares to retire after an impressive 30-year tenure at the helm of the studio, he revealed that one of his favorite unmade games was "Resistance 4."

Price explained that the team at Insomniac had pitched the concept for "Resistance 4," describing it as a "wonderful concept." However, due to timing and market opportunities, the project did not move forward. He expressed the team's passion for expanding the Resistance universe, noting that the series had established a compelling alternate history framework ripe for further exploration, particularly with the mysterious Chimera and their origins.

The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac, consists of first-person shooters set in an alternate history where aliens invade the UK in 1951. The franchise, which followed Insomniac's work on the Ratchet and Clank games, saw three titles released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 before the studio shifted focus to other projects, including the acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man series and new Ratchet and Clank games.

Earlier this year, Price announced his retirement from Insomniac Games. He has appointed Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as Co-Studio Heads to succeed him. Insomniac's latest release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, has recently been made available on PC, and the studio is currently working on Marvel’s Wolverine, their next anticipated title.
