Elden Ring Mod Enables Nightreign Duos

by Connor Oct 18,2025

Never underestimate the dedication of modders. The recently launched Elden Ring Nightreign has already inspired innovation, with prominent FromSoftware modder Luke Yui showcasing a working Duos mode prototype within just 24 hours of release.

Known for his co-op modifications in Elden Ring and Armored Core VI, Yui demonstrated this two-player solution through a YouTube video. The mod offers players the option to team up in pairs - an alternative to the game's enforced choice between solo or three-player formats.

Currently, this remains a private proof-of-concept rather than a publicly available mod. Yui clarified the modification bypasses official matchmaking servers, meaning while players can use other mods concurrently, they'll be operating outside normal systems. Whether this evolves into a fully functional solution remains to be seen.

Nightreign's current design offers either solo or three-player configurations, creating an awkward limitation for duos. Players must choose between abandoning their partner or recruiting a stranger - a design decision causing notable frustration in the community.

This omission has surfaced repeatedly in early player feedback. The Elden Ring subreddit humorously reflects the situation, with many posts attempting to complete three-player teams. When approached by IGN, director Junya Ishizaki acknowledged the oversight, confirming the team is evaluating duo support for potential post-launch implementation.
