Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Extended 24 Hours Post-PSN Outage

by Sarah May 13,2025

Capcom has announced an extension to the Monster Hunter Wilds beta following a significant 24-hour outage of the PlayStation Network (PSN) that disrupted the game's previous testing phase. The PSN experienced an "operational issue" starting at 3pm PT on Friday, February 7, and services were not restored until approximately 24 hours later. In response to the inconvenience, Sony compensated all PlayStation Plus members with an additional five days of service.

During the outage, PlayStation users were unable to engage in online gaming, and even single-player games requiring server authentication or a constant internet connection faced disruptions. The second beta of Monster Hunter Wilds, which had been eagerly anticipated, was scheduled from Thursday, February 6 to Sunday, February 9 but was cut short due to the PSN issues. In response, Capcom has extended the next session of the beta by 24 hours. It will now run from Thursday, February 13 at 7pm PT (3am GMT on February 14) until Monday, February 17 at 6:59pm PT (2:59am GMT on February 18), instead of the originally planned end on Sunday, February 16.

During this extended period, participants will remain eligible to earn participation bonuses that will carry over to the full version of the game, as confirmed by Capcom. Despite the challenges posed by last week's downtime, players were able to engage with Monster Hunter Wilds' new formidable adversary, Arkveld.

Monster Hunter Wilds is set for a full release on February 28, 2025, available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For more in-depth information on Capcom's latest hunting adventure, check out our IGN First coverage, including our final preview of Monster Hunter Wilds [ttpp].
