Mortal Kombat 1 has unveiled two consecutive character spotlights. Yesterday's esports trailer teased T-1000, but the Terminator isn't the immediate addition to the roster. Conan the Barbarian takes center stage, launching next week for premium edition owners, with today's release of his gameplay trailer.
The trailer showcases Conan as a powerful, heavy-hitting brawler. His attacks appear devastating, though his lack of agility is apparent. His sword's reach may compensate for this, but matchups against characters like General Shao, Omni-Man, and Homelander will be intriguing to observe.
While visually reminiscent of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Conan's fatality lacks the spectacular flair of some other MK1 finishers. A rather straightforward acid bath execution doesn't quite deliver the same "wow" factor. However, gameplay is paramount, and Conan promises a unique and entertaining fighting style.
Premium edition owners gain early access on Tuesday, while everyone else must wait until January 28th.
