Nintendo Credited in PS5's Death Stranding 2

by Riley Oct 31,2025

PlayStation 5 players who've completed Death Stranding 2: On the Beach have discovered an unexpected name in the credits – Nintendo.

Credits reveal contributions from Nintendo Pictures, the motion capture studio Nintendo acquired and renamed in 2022. This marks the first time the studio has been credited in a non-Nintendo title since becoming part of the Mario company.

As VGC reports, this collaboration likely stems from pre-existing contracts. Development on Death Stranding 2 began before Nintendo's acquisition, with the studio (then called Dynamo Pictures) having previously worked on the original Death Stranding.

The 2022 Game Awards reveal trailer for Death Stranding 2 already featured motion capture footage of Norman Reedus and Lea Seydoux, suggesting the studio's involvement predates Nintendo's purchase.

Nintendo Pictures' contributions to Death Stranding 2 include motion capture direction, editing, coordination, and advisory services. Since becoming a Nintendo subsidiary, the studio has primarily focused on first-party titles like Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Pikmin 4, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

This unplanned crossover raises questions about future third-party collaborations. Will Nintendo Pictures continue working with external studios, or will this remain a one-off occurrence from pre-existing contracts?
