Nintendo's highly anticipated Switch 2 is officially on its way! This article dives into the details revealed in Nintendo's initial teaser trailer.
The teaser highlighted a larger display, a wider, more stable kickstand, and redesigned Joy-Cons that now connect magnetically. A new USB-C port on the console itself was also confirmed.
Crucially, Nintendo confirmed backwards compatibility. Players will be able to enjoy both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games, although some titles may have limited or no support. Further details on incompatible games will be released later on the Nintendo website. Nintendo Switch Online functionality will also carry over to the Switch 2.
While no exclusive titles were officially announced, the teaser hinted at a potential new Mario Kart installment (possibly Mario Kart 9), and rumors suggest Gotham Knights may be coming to the platform. A dedicated Nintendo Direct on April 2nd, 2025 will reveal more details.
Nintendo is hosting "Nintendo Switch 2 Experience" events in major cities worldwide, offering hands-on time with the console before its launch.
