Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC features some truly frightening NPCs. A recent datamine, however, has unveiled the surprising character models hidden beneath their armor, revealing a level of detail that goes beyond what players normally see. While some models are relatively simple, others display remarkable characteristics that align perfectly with their in-game lore.
The intricate lore of Elden Ring, a hallmark of the Soulsborne series, is often partially revealed through gameplay, leaving dataminers to piece together the rest. Previous datamines have uncovered secrets, such as the model beneath the Divine Beast Dancing Lion boss. This latest effort by YouTuber and dataminer Zullie the Witch delves even deeper, stripping away the armor of several Shadow of the Erdtree NPCs.
Zullie's video showcases the unexpected level of detail FromSoftware has incorporated into these characters, many unseen during normal gameplay. The raw appearances have captivated fans, particularly Moore's model, which many players find matches their expectations.
Elden Ring Community Reaction to Detailed NPC Models
Redmane Freyja's model, for instance, exhibits scarring consistent with Scarlet Rot, a detail perfectly reflecting her in-game history. Similarly, Tanith from Volcano Manor bears a striking resemblance to the Dancer of Ranah, fitting given Tanith's past as a dancer before her relationship with Rykard.
However, some aspects are unexpected. Hornsent, for example, lacks horns in the model, likely due to the need for a completely unique character model to incorporate them. Fans have suggested that the DLC should have included horn customization options alongside the new hairstyles.
