Pedro Pascal, renowned for his roles in hit series like The Last of Us, The Mandalorian, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, has publicly criticized Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling over her contentious remarks targeting the transgender community.
Pascal voiced his disapproval in response to an April 17 video by writer and activist Tariq Raouf, which condemned Rowling's endorsement of a UK Supreme Court ruling that legally defines "woman" as exclusively "biological." This interpretation excludes transgender women from protections under the Equality Act.
After the ruling, Rowling celebrated on Twitter/X with a photo of herself smoking a cigar by the ocean, captioning it, "I love it when a plan comes together." She hinted at her financial backing of For Scotland Women, the group behind the lawsuit.
Raouf's video lambasted Rowling's stance as "straight-up Voldemort-level villainy," calling for a boycott of Harry Potter-related content. Pascal concurred in his reply, stating: "Disgusting behavior. Absolutely pathetic."
Pascal has long championed transgender rights. In a past post, he denounced transphobia, sharing a sign that read, "A world without trans people has never existed." He further showed solidarity by wearing a "Protect the dolls" shirt—an LGBTQIA+ term for trans women—to the Thunderbolts premiere.
The actor's sister, Lux Pascal, publicly transitioned in 2021. Pascal openly supported her, posting, "Mi hermana, mi corazón, nuestra Lux" ("My sister, my heart, our Lux").
