Pokemon vending machines are popping up across the US, and Pokemon fans are buzzing! This article answers your burning questions about these automated merchandise dispensers.
These aren't your average gumball machines. Pokemon vending machines offer a selection of Pokemon merchandise, primarily Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) products. While not as budget-friendly as a soda, they provide a convenient way to grab TCG goodies.
Initially tested in Washington in 2017, these TCG-focused machines have expanded across the US, proving a successful venture. The machines are easily recognizable with their vibrant colors and clear Pokemon branding. A recent visit to one inside a Kroger store highlighted their prominent placement.
Unlike older models, these machines utilize touch screens for browsing and selecting items. Payment is via credit card, and the process is enhanced by charming Pokemon animations. Digital receipts are emailed to customers, though returns aren't accepted.
Primarily, US Pokemon vending machines stock Pokemon TCG products: Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Packs, and other related items. A recent check revealed a well-stocked machine, even during a busy holiday shopping period, although the newest Elite Trainer Boxes were sold out. Unlike some Pokemon Center machines in Washington, these generally don't stock plushies, apparel, or video games.
The official Pokemon Center website maintains an updated list of US Pokemon TCG vending machines. Currently, machines are located in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Nevada, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin. Check the website for locations within your state and nearby stores. These machines are often clustered in specific cities within partner grocery stores, including Albertsons, Fred Meyer, Frys, Kroger, Pick ‘n Save, Safeway, Smith’s, and Tom Thumb. You can also follow the Pokemon Center's location list for updates on new machine installations.
