Pokémon TCG Faces Shortages, Scalper Woes

by Michael Oct 10,2025

The Pokémon Company has officially responded to fan frustrations regarding recent Pokémon Trading Card Game shortages. In a statement, the company confirmed upcoming reprints and outlined plans to improve product availability.

The launch of Destined Rivals, the latest Pokémon TCG expansion, encountered multiple issues including distribution shortages, pre-order complications, and persistent scalping problems. Previous high-demand releases like Prismatic Evolutions and Blooming Waters box sets have similarly faced stock challenges.

The Pokémon Company acknowledged the scarcity issues in their official statement: "We recognize some fans face challenges acquiring certain Pokémon TCG products due to unprecedented demand affecting availability."

"We understand these inventory shortages disappoint collectors and players," the statement continued. "Our teams are currently operating production facilities at maximum capacity to reprint affected products as quickly as possible. These reprinted items should reach retail partners shortly."

The company outlined a two-pronged solution moving forward: expanding initial production volumes for future expansions while maintaining continuous reprints for popular existing sets. This strategy applies to both general retail products and Pokémon Center exclusives.

While not naming scalpers directly, The Pokémon Company referenced its anti-resale measures: "For Pokémon Center releases, we prioritize fan access through technological solutions that enhance fair purchasing opportunities." Currently, their virtual queue system activates during high-traffic product launches.

"We remain committed to improving the Pokémon Center shopping experience and exploring additional protective measures," the statement concluded. "We appreciate our community's patience as we work to satisfy the overwhelming demand for Pokémon TCG products."

This announcement brings hope for collectors struggling with the current competitive card market, potentially signaling positive changes for future set releases.
