Badlands Trailer Reveals New Predator Species

The iconic hunter returns in Predator: Badlands - the explosive teaser for this sci-fi action sequel has just landed online.

In this first glimpse, we're introduced to Elle Fanning's character, a survivor on a deadly futuristic frontier planet. Curiously, the Predator she encounters appears fundamentally different - potentially even serving as this story's protagonist. "The visionary behind Prey invites you to experience relentless brutality," the trailer ominously declares.

Beyond this reimagined Predator, subtle connections to the Alien universe have fans theorizing about potential AvP tie-ins. Fanning's uncanny eye movement mirrors the Weyland-Yutani synthetic reveal from Alien: Romulus, while blink-and-you'll-miss-it shots show the infamous corporate logo ominously placed on wrecked machinery (Weyland-Yutani being the sinister conglomerate central to the Alien franchise).

First announced in February 2024 with an October release confirmation, Predator: Badlands premiered its trailer at CinemaCon before this public unveiling, finally letting fans preview the upcoming spectacle.

The official synopsis released at CinemaCon reveals: "On a hostile frontier planet, a banished young Predator forms an unexpected alliance with human survivor Thia, embarking on a perilous quest to confront legendary adversaries."

"We're doing something never attempted in this franchise," Fanning teased audiences at CinemaCon. "I'm not the prey here - I actually partner with the Predator, offering audiences a revolutionary perspective. But I shouldn't spoil more!"

Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane, Prey) from a script co-written with Patrick Aison, Predator: Badlands is scheduled for theatrical release on November 7, 2025.
