The first wave of 2025 prebuilt gaming PCs featuring the cutting-edge Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 and 5090 graphics cards is now available for purchase. Major retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, Adorama, and B&H Photo have updated their listings to include these highly anticipated systems. If you're eager to get your hands on a complete setup with one of these new generation GPUs, this is your prime opportunity, as the next chance may not come until major OEMs like Dell (Alienware), HP (Omen), and Lenovo (Legion) release their models later in the first quarter.
However, if you're looking for standalone GPUs, you're on the wrong page. For that, refer to our detailed RTX 5090 and 5080 preorder guide, which lists retailers expected to carry them. Be aware that launch-day stock for these GPUs is likely to sell out quickly, often within hours or minutes due to high demand and potential inventory shortages. Retailers have already cautioned about limited stock, and recent Nvidia GPU launches have seen significant interference from bots that snatch up GPUs to resell at inflated prices.

Dell has just launched its new Alienware Area-51 lineup of gaming PCs today. Currently available in two configurations, both featuring an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K and GeForce RTX 5080 GPU, they start at an impressive price of $4,449.99. Don't expect immediate delivery though; Dell estimates these systems will arrive by April 22.
Dell unveiled the new Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The chassis design is reminiscent of the 2024 R16 model, with minor aesthetic and cooling enhancements and updated components. The I/O panel is now positioned at the top instead of the front, and the tempered glass window extends across the entire side panel for a sleek look. The side panel vents have been removed, with air intakes now located at the bottom and front of the case to promote a positive airflow design, which helps keep the interior less dusty. Internally, the system has been refreshed with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the new generation of CPUs and RTX 50 series GPUs.

Several boutique retailers are offering customization options to include RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 GPUs in their built-to-order systems. Retailers such as iBuyPower, Origin PC, Maingear, Starforge Systems, NZXT, and Digital Storm have updated their configurators with new RTX 50-series GPU options. While these systems are readily available, keep in mind that they tend to be pricier and less cost-effective compared to prebuilt options.
The major OEMs, including Dell (Alienware), HP, and Lenovo, will not introduce their prebuilt gaming desktops with RTX 50-series GPUs until later in the year. At CES 2025, Dell showcased its Alienware Area-51, expected to feature Nvidia's new GPUs, with a projected launch in the first quarter. HP plans to offer RTX 5090 and 5080 options for its flagship Omen 45L around mid to late February. Lenovo has not disclosed when it will start integrating the new GPUs into its Legion Tower series, leaving the launch date uncertain.
The Nvidia 50-series GPUs were officially unveiled at CES 2025, with a focus on enhanced AI features alongside modest hardware improvements. DLSS 4 technology is said to quadruple frame rates with minimal visual compromise. In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE review, Jackie Thomas noted that "the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has claimed the performance crown from the RTX 4090, albeit with a smaller generational uplift than in previous releases. While traditional non-AI gaming performance sees only a slight increase, DLSS 4 delivers significant performance gains in compatible games, with 75% of the frames generated by AI."
In our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE review, Jackie offers a similar perspective: "For those with recent high-end graphics cards, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 might not be the upgrade you're looking for, as it offers only a marginal performance increase over the RTX 4080. However, DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation does enhance gameplay in supported titles. If you're upgrading from an older GPU and are open to Nvidia's AI enhancements, the RTX 5080 is a solid choice."
