PSA: Days Gone Remastered $10 PS5 Upgrade Not Available for Game Redemptions via PS Plus

by Aaron Mar 06,2025

Days Gone Remastered, a highlight of Sony's recent State of Play, has sparked controversy among PlayStation Plus subscribers due to its $10 upgrade policy. Sony's confirmation that the discounted upgrade is exclusive to owners of the PlayStation 4 disc or digital version has left PS Plus users disgruntled.

Those who acquired Days Gone through PS Plus, including its previous inclusion in the PS Plus Collection and as an Essential monthly title in April 2021, are ineligible for the $10 upgrade and must pay the full $49.99 for the PS5 remaster.

This decision has fueled online complaints from PS Plus subscribers. Reddit threads dedicated to PlayStation Plus are filled with comments expressing disappointment. Many users stated they would have gladly paid the $10 upgrade fee but will now forgo the game entirely.

One user, squarejellyfish_, noted that Sony could have generated substantial revenue by extending the discounted upgrade to PS Plus users, even if only a small percentage opted to purchase it. Other comments echoed this sentiment, highlighting the potential lost sales. Several users criticized Sony's approach as "stingy" and short-sighted.

While some PS Plus subscribers acknowledge that Sony likely conducted financial analysis justifying this decision, the company faces criticism for its perceived lack of generosity towards loyal fans.

Days Gone Remastered wasn't the only PlayStation game unveiled during the State of Play event. For a complete rundown of all announcements, refer to IGN's State of Play February 2025 summary.
