Recent online leaks suggest we're getting closer to an official reveal of the Nintendo Switch successor. New images circulating appear to confirm the design of the Switch 2's Joy-Con controllers, showcasing a magnetic connection and updated color scheme. While the current Switch still has a 2025 game release pipeline, the next-gen console's arrival seems imminent, with Nintendo promising an announcement before the end of their 2024 fiscal year. This impending reveal has fueled a surge in rumors and leaks surrounding the Switch 2.
Expected to launch around March 2025, the Switch 2 has been the subject of numerous leaks detailing its potential specifications and features. Hardware leaks, reportedly sourced from third-party developers and insiders, have circulated, along with details about Joy-Con functionality and color options. The latest leak, originating from a Chinese social media platform and shared on the r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit by user SwordfishAgile3472, provides arguably the clearest images yet of the Switch 2's Joy-Cons.
These images clearly show the back and side of a left Joy-Con, confirming the rumored magnetic connection. Unlike the Switch's rail system, this new design utilizes magnets for attachment, eliminating physical contact. The color scheme is predominantly black, with blue accents visible on the side, a departure from the original Switch's brighter blue Joy-Con. The images also offer a glimpse of the updated button layout, featuring larger "SL" and "SR" buttons and a mysterious third button on the back, potentially used to release the magnetic connection.
This leaked Joy-Con design aligns with other recent leaks and mockups of the Switch 2 console. However, until Nintendo provides official confirmation, these details remain speculative. The anticipation is high, and the gaming community eagerly awaits the official unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2.
