So, you want to know the secrets to fishing in Rune Slayer? Let's be honest, we were a little baffled at first too, but fear not, fellow angler! This guide will walk you through the surprisingly non-intuitive process.
Recommended Videos Before You Start
First things first: You need to embark on a quest! Find Simon the Fisherman (the white-haired chap near the pier where the barracuda swim). He'll task you with catching five… well, *things*. In return, he'll reward you with a handy Tackle Box.
To catch anything, you'll need a fishing rod and bait. Guess who conveniently sells both? Simon, of course! Pick up a Wood Fishing Rod and at least five Worms (ten is recommended). Important note: you don't equip the worms; they simply need to be in your inventory. Each successful catch (or unsuccessful one, as you'll see) consumes a worm.
Here's the catch (pun intended!): You seem to need *at least* five worms in your inventory to even start catching anything. We tried with just one, and it was a fruitless endeavor. Consider placing your worms in your hotbar for easy tracking.
How to Catch Fish (or Junk)
Select your Wood Fishing Rod (no equipping needed, just have it in your hotbar). Hold down M1 to cast your line into the water (the pier by Simon is a good spot). Watch your bobber. When it ripples (once or twice), click M1 again to reel in your catch. It's not a guaranteed fish every time; you'll often pull up junk. But don't worry, Simon counts junk as a catch towards your quest completion.
Once you've "caught" five items, return to Simon. He'll give you that promised Tackle Box. Store your remaining worms in it to free up inventory space. And there you have it! Happy fishing!
