Rockstar Games has officially announced that the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is set for May 26, 2026. The news has sent shockwaves through the gaming community, and now, indie publisher Devolver Digital is already plotting its own move to coincide with what’s expected to be the year’s most monumental game launch.
In a playful jab at the highly anticipated GTA 6 release, Devolver Digital took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce it will also be launching a brand-new mystery title on May 26, 2026—the very same day as Rockstar’s blockbuster. Known for its chaotic and unconventional marketing tactics, the publisher seems fully committed to this bold strategy—at least for now.
This isn’t the first time Devolver made waves with such a promise. The company had previously vowed to release a game of its own on the day Rockstar revealed GTA 6's official launch date. Now that the date is confirmed, Devolver followed through with a cheeky message:
You can’t escape us.
May 26, 2026 it is then. https://t.co/eVa5bB1vrh

Devolver Digital boasts an impressive lineup of indie hits including Hotline Miami, Enter the Gungeon, The Messenger, Katana Zero, Cult of the Lamb, and more. Whether this new title will be a sequel to an existing franchise or an entirely fresh concept remains under wraps. Among its upcoming titles scheduled for release before the end of 2025 are Baby Steps and Stick It to the Stickman. Looking further ahead into 2026, fans are also anticipating Enter the Gungeon 2 and Human Fall Flat 2.
However, developer No Brakes Games clarified that Human Fall Flat 2 will not be launching on May 26, 2026:
We can confirm that Human Fall Flat 2 will NOT be releasing on May 26, 2026 https://t.co/zl3GbjSmia

With over a year still to go before GTA 6 hits shelves, anticipation continues to build. As Rockstar’s first mainline entry in the iconic open-world series since GTA V launched in 2013, expectations couldn’t be higher. Gamers worldwide are already preparing to dive in on day one.
Devolver Digital, ever the wildcard, is leaning into the chaos with its signature flair. While the details surrounding its May 26 release remain mysterious, one thing is clear: they’re not backing down from the spotlight.
