EA and Maxis are celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Sims franchise with an exciting surprise. Today, fans can once again enjoy both The Sims 1 and The Sims 2 on PC, thanks to the release of The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection. These collections are available separately or bundled together in The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle, priced at $40.
Each game in the collections comes packed with all expansions and nearly all stuff packs. Notably, The Sims 2: Legacy Collection is missing the IKEA Home Stuff pack from 2008, but includes everything else. Additionally, The Sims 1 offers a special Throwback Fit Kit, while The Sims 2 features a Grunge Revival Kit, adding even more content to these already robust collections.
The re-release of these classic titles marks a significant moment as it's the first time in over a decade that both games have been readily available. The Sims 1 was previously only accessible via physical discs, making it challenging to play on modern Windows systems. The Sims 2 was last available through the Ultimate Collection on EA's Origin store in 2014, which is no longer available. Now, with these new collections, all four The Sims games are easily accessible and playable through digital storefronts.
When we first reviewed them, The Sims 1 received a 9.5/10 and The Sims 2 a 8.5/10. Despite the advancements and refinements in the series since their release, the original games remain a delightful experience, cherished for their unique charm, simplicity, and enduring legacy.
Both The Sims: Legacy Collection and The Sims 2: Legacy Collection are now available for purchase on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and through the EA app, making it easier than ever for fans to dive back into the nostalgic world of The Sims.
