The much-anticipated Super Mario Party Jamboree Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV is slated for an exclusive release on the Nintendo Switch 2 on July 24. This new edition includes all the fun and excitement of the original party game for Nintendo Switch, enhanced with the innovative Jamboree TV expansion, which transforms your gaming experience into a game show hosted by Toad. You can preorder it now, and it's available at various retailers like Walmart.
You can purchase this game at Walmart, Target, and GameStop for $79.99. It's worth noting that it's available in just one edition, simplifying your purchasing decision.
Nintendo has adopted a sliding-scale pricing model for their Switch 2 games. While most first-party titles for the original Switch were priced at $59.99, with some exceptions like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom at $69.99, the Switch 2 games are setting a new standard with a top price of $79.99. Mario Kart World follows suit at $79.99, while other titles may be priced at $69.99 or less.
This edition of the game not only includes the original Switch game but also the Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. This upgrade pack enhances the game with higher definition visuals and faster frame rates, and it includes the Jamboree TV expansion content. If you already own the original game for Switch, you can buy the upgrade pack separately on the Nintendo eShop or at select retailers as a printed download code, saving you some money.
The standout feature of this edition is the Switch 2-exclusive Jamboree TV expansion, introducing new modes and minigames to the party. These minigames leverage new input types exclusive to Switch 2, including audio recognition, mouse controls, and "more expressive rumble." The expansion also utilizes the Nintendo Switch 2 camera accessory (sold separately), available at retailers like Target.
The camera accessory enables unique gameplay experiences, allowing up to four players to participate using a single camera. Players can engage in activities like balancing digital goombas on their heads or hitting question blocks with their Joy-Con, immersing themselves further into the game.
This expansion represents one of the most substantial upgrades to a Switch 2 version of an original Switch game, making it a must-have for anyone who loves hosting parties and playing with friends.
The original Super Mario Party Jamboree for Switch was a standout title in the series, as highlighted in our 9/10 review:
“Super Mario Party Jamboree is an amazing follow-up to Mario Party Superstars and easily one of the best games in the series. Not only does it faithfully return to the classic formula established in the Nintendo 64 entries, it confidently improves upon it with a fantastic set of boards that introduce unique and memorable mechanics. It’s also the most flexible Mario Party has ever been, with tons of ways to customize your game, including its brilliant new optional Pro Rules that reduce luck-based elements to a minimum and crank up the strategy for those who want it. The wonderful maps are supported by a great lineup of new and returning minigames and character-specific challenges that steal the show, even if I wish there were just a few more minigames in the rotation. The side offerings may not have much staying power, but when partying with friends and family locally or online, Super Mario Party Jamboree boldly completes the series’ redemption arc as its newest superstar.”
