The recent viral sensation, Skibidi Toilet, has sparked a bizarre DMCA controversy involving the popular sandbox game, Garry's Mod. However, the situation appears to have reached a resolution, according to game developer Garry Newman.
The controversy began when Newman received a DMCA takedown notice late last year from individuals claiming to represent the Skibidi Toilet copyright holders. The notice targeted user-created Garry's Mod content featuring characters from the Skibidi Toilet series, including Titan Cameraman, Titan Speakerman, and Titan TV Man. The sender alleged unauthorized use of copyrighted material and significant revenue generation from these creations.
While Newman initially expressed incredulity ("Can you believe the cheek?"), he confirmed to IGN that the matter is now resolved. The identity of the party who issued the DMCA notice remains undisclosed, leaving uncertainty whether it originated from DaFuqBoom or Invisible Narratives, both potentially associated with the Skibidi Toilet IP. The swift resolution, following considerable online backlash, ends a brief but notable chapter in the Skibidi Toilet saga.
