Tribe Nine Shut Down Months After Launch

by Joseph Nov 10,2025

  • Tribe Nine's latest update has been canceled, and an end-of-service announcement has been made.
  • Server shutdown is scheduled for November 27th.
  • Paid Enigma Entities will receive refunds, and in-game purchases are being discontinued.

It's not often that I'm genuinely taken aback when writing, but I believe I speak for many when I say the news of Tribe Nine's shutdown came as a real surprise. As stated in a recent announcement, the game's servers are set to go offline on November 27th, with all future updates officially canceled.

This marks a disappointing end for Tribe Nine, a title that celebrated over ten million downloads just months ago. Inspired by the anime of the same name and featuring art from Danganronpa veteran Rui Komatsuzaki, the game blended standard ARPG mechanics with signature "Xtreme Baseball" boss fights familiar to fans of the series.

The abrupt termination of Tribe Nine is part of a worrying pattern in recent years, where numerous titles are being discontinued less than a year after launch. For dedicated players, it can feel disheartening to invest time and emotion into new releases when the threat of an early shutdown always looms.

Given that Rui Komatsuzaki's artwork also appears in the well-received Hundred Line -Last Defence Academy- on other platforms, it's surprising to see Tribe Nine canceled so soon. However, this sudden move could end up damaging the reputation of developer Akatsuki Games.

With another anime-based title, Kaiju No.8: The Game, on the horizon, the studio is likely counting on drawing in fans of the original series. Yet, more cautious players may look at Akatsuki's recent history and hesitate to commit, wary of a repeat situation. Either way, for Tribe Nine’s community, this isn’t the news they were hoping for this Friday.

Fortunately, there are still plenty of great games to dive into. If you’re looking for something new, why not explore our latest feature highlighting the top five new mobile games to try this week?
