Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O:  A Classic Arcade Fighter on SteamSEGA is bringing the renowned Virtua Fighter franchise to Steam for the very first time with Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. This latest remaster builds upon the 18-year legacy of Virtua Fighter 5, marking the fifth major iteration of the game. While a precise release date remains undisclosed, SEGA confirms a winter launch.

Despite numerous previous releases, SEGA positions Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. as the definitive remaster of this classic 3D fighter. Key features include rollback netcode for smooth online play, stunning 4K graphics with updated high-resolution textures, and a boosted 60fps framerate for unparalleled fluidity.

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O: Enhanced GameplayReturning modes include Rank Match, Arcade, Training, and Versus. Exciting additions are custom online tournaments and leagues (supporting up to 16 players) and a Spectator Mode for observing and learning from other players.

The YouTube trailer has garnered overwhelmingly positive feedback, even for seasoned Virtua Fighter fans. Many expressed excitement about the PC release, although some still eagerly anticipate a Virtua Fighter 6 announcement.

Initially Mistaken for Virtua Fighter 6

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O:  A Surprise RemasterEarlier this month, an interview with VGC fueled speculation about a Virtua Fighter 6 announcement. SEGA's global head of transmedia, Justin Scarpone, hinted at several legacy titles in development, including another Virtua Fighter project. However, the Steam release of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. on November 22nd clarified the situation, showcasing upgraded visuals, new modes, and the inclusion of rollback netcode.

A Classic Fighting Game Returns

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O:  A Modern ClassicOriginally launched on SEGA Lindbergh arcades in July 2006, and subsequently ported to PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2007, Virtua Fighter 5 pitted fighters in the Fifth World Fighting Tournament. The original featured 17 fighters, expanded to 19 in later versions, including Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.
