We'll Hear More About Baldur's Gate's Future 'in Pretty Short Order,' Hasbro SVP of Games Says

by Logan Mar 21,2025

Baldur's Gate 3, a game that continues to captivate players months after its release, has left fans wondering about the future of the franchise. With Larian Studios stepping away from the series, Hasbro now holds the reins. Fortunately, we won't have to wait long for an update.

Hasbro's SVP of digital games, Dan Ayoub, recently spoke with IGN at the Game Developers Conference, revealing that the company has significant interest in the Baldur's Gate franchise and is actively developing future plans. He hinted at upcoming announcements, stating that "in pretty short order, we're going to have some stuff to talk about around that."

While Ayoub remained tight-lipped on specifics—whether this involves a full-fledged Baldur's Gate 4 or a different approach—he confirmed his desire to eventually create a Baldur's Gate 4, acknowledging the significant time investment such a project would require. He emphasized a measured approach, stating, "We're not in a hurry... We're starting to think about... dipping toes a little bit and talking about a few things."

Ayoub also acknowledged the immense pressure to deliver a high-quality successor, noting its influence even on other Dungeons & Dragons-related projects.

He expressed confidence in the team's ability to meet the challenge, stating, "I think anything that forces us to raise our creative bar... and I think we've actually seen the team push some really interesting ideas... So, I think that's our hope, right? We would keep raising the bar and everyone just tries to go a little higher."

Ayoub also discussed other topics, including Magic: The Gathering, Saber Interactive, and Hasbro's broader game strategy. A full interview will be released next week.
