Wolcen Studio has announced the launch of Project Pantheon, an innovative free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates elements of extraction shooter mechanics. The excitement begins with the first closed alpha test, scheduled to start on January 25 for players in Europe, followed by North American players on February 1.
"We've combined the intense tension and rewarding risks of an extraction shooter with the dynamic battles of combat role-playing games," explained game director Andrei Cirkulete. Drawing inspiration from games like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov, Project Pantheon positions players as messengers of Death, tasked with restoring order to a shattered world. Players will face off against both AI opponents and other players as they navigate through various maps. Successful evacuations will allow them to keep their hard-earned trophies, while failure means losing all collected loot.
The game offers players the freedom to build their own bases, customize their gear, and experiment with diverse playstyles. Drawing from world mythologies, the setting of Project Pantheon is richly detailed, with player trading forming the backbone of its economic system. The initial adventures will take place in "Destiny's Edge," a locale inspired by Scandinavian legends.
Despite being in its early alpha phase, Wolcen Studio is committed to actively involving the community to refine and enhance Project Pantheon. This approach underscores their dedication to creating a game that resonates well with players and evolves based on their feedback.
