Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the enchanting Rinascita region, teeming with new Tacet Discords for players to explore. Among these intriguing foes is the Chop Chop—a floating eyeball sporting a top hat and accompanied by two hovering hands, reminiscent of a scene from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. While various Chop Chops roam Rinascita, the unique Lifer variant presents a formidable challenge to players.
The Lifer resides at the heart of the maze in Oakheart Highcourt, nestled within the Fagaceae Peninsula. This special Chop Chop boasts multiple buffs that bolster its resilience and amplify its damage output. This guide will help players strip away many of the Lifer's buffs in Wuthering Waves, easing the battle ahead.
To locate the Lifer, head to the central structure of the maze in Oakheart Highcourt, right beneath the roots of the colossal tree. Initially, not all entrances to the Lifer's lair are accessible. However, you can find an open entrance on the southwest side, aligned with the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. You can either scale the walls from the beacon’s direction or use the Flight function to soar over the maze.
Upon entering, you'll discover the Lifer beside a large board game featuring six game pieces. The goal is to connect three pieces in a line before the Lifer does. You'll control the black pieces, while the Lifer manages the white ones. Crucially, the board game can alter the walls of the Oakheart Highcourt maze based on the placement of your black pieces. Placing a black piece on the outer circle of the board will open all walls and gates in that direction. You can exit the game session at any time, and the positions of the pieces will remain intact.
While the board game isn't mandatory for battling the Lifer—you can choose to engage it directly—it's vital for removing its buffs. It's advisable not to win the game until you've stripped away the buffs, as doing so will trigger immediate combat.
The Lifer comes equipped with seven buffs that significantly increase its difficulty without a highly optimized team. Four of these buffs can be neutralized using an item called the Stake of Imbalance, while the other three are permanent. You can check these buffs through the glowing yellow module positioned behind the Lifer.
Removable Buffs (Fragility):
Permanent Buffs (Stability):
To find the Stake of Imbalance items, utilize the Sensor utility tool near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines indicating their locations. These lines guide you to four rooms on the outer ring of the maze. To access each room, manipulate the game board by positioning the black pieces in the direction of the rooms, thereby opening the corresponding walls and gates.
The pieces will retain their positions upon exiting the game board, allowing you to work towards each room sequentially.
Once a gate opens, follow the pathway to the room at its end, where you'll find a winged statue. Two of the rooms will require you to defeat Tacet Discords, one will involve breaking Friable Rocks, and the final Stake of Imbalance can be found on a table. Each Stake of Imbalance is marked by a white glow, making it easy to spot and collect.
After obtaining a Stake of Imbalance, place it in the module in front of the corresponding statue to remove the associated buff from the Lifer. Once a buff is removed, the purple line will turn yellow when viewed through the Sensor.
After neutralizing all four buffs, you can return to confront the Lifer at a significantly reduced difficulty level. You can either win the board game or select "Fight it out!" at the chair to initiate the battle. Without its four removable buffs, the Lifer is only marginally stronger than a regular Chop Chop found in the wild. Its abilities—punch, grab, or spin—no longer pose a significant threat or deal substantial damage.
Defeating the Lifer for the first time rewards you with a Premium Supply Chest. A second victory yields another Premium Supply Chest along with three Basic Supply Chests. A third and final victory grants an Advanced Supply Chest and three Standard Supply Chests.
You also have the option to re-enable the buffs by interacting with the same four modules, offering a more challenging fight. However, there are no achievements tied to defeating the Lifer with all buffs active.
In addition to the chests, players can earn four achievements related to the Lifer and its board game.
For those struggling to outsmart the Lifer in the board game, focus on blocking its attempts to create a line. Eventually, the Lifer will grow impatient and make a mistake, giving you the opportunity to seize victory.
