Splitgate 2 anunció su Prueba Alfa Abierta durante el evento State of Play de Sony de febrero de 2025. La prueba se llevó a cabo oficialmente desde el 27 de febrero hasta el 3 de marzo de 2025. A diferencia de la Alfa Cerrada anterior, exclusiva para PC, esta Alfa Abierta estuvo disponible en PC (a través de Steam), PlayStation 5 y Xbox Series X|S.
No fue necesario registrarse; todo el mundo pudo unirse libremente. Como se detalló en el comunicado de prensa oficial, la prueba introdujo nuevos mapas, armas, modos de juego e incluso una batalla multijugador a gran escala de 8v8v8.

Las claves se podían obtener haciendo clic en "Solicitar acceso" en la página de Steam del juego o viendo transmisiones designadas en Twitch durante dos horas para conseguir Drops de Twitch.
