"Now You See Me 3 Renamed, Sequel Confirmed"

by George Apr 27,2025

Big news for fans of the Now You See Me series: the third installment has been officially titled Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, and a fourth film is already in development. This exciting update was shared during CinemaCon by Adam Fogelson, the chair of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, who also confirmed that Now You See Me 3 is still set to hit theaters on November 14, 2025.

Director Ruben Fleischer, known for his work on Zombieland, Uncharted, and Venom, has signed on to not only helm Now You See Me: Now You Don’t but also to develop and direct the fourth film in this successful action-heist franchise. The series has already grossed $700 million worldwide.

PlayThe original cast members, including Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Morgan Freeman, are joined by new talents such as Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt, who will portray the next generation of illusionists. Rosamund Pike is also set to star in Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, reuniting Fleischer with Eisenberg and Harrelson from his debut film, Zombieland.

Bobby Cohen, the mastermind behind the series, will return to produce the third and fourth films, alongside Alex Kurtzman of Secret Hideout. Meredith Wieck will oversee the project for Lionsgate.

Fogelson praised Fleischer's work, saying, “Ruben has delivered all of the twists and turns and sleight-of-hand that audiences expect from this franchise while upping the stakes and scale in every way. We can’t wait for audiences to discover what he’s done with the third film and thrilled he’ll be making even more magic with us.”

Fleischer himself expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Directing Now You See Me: Now You Don’t was as much fun as making any movie in my career. It combines two of my favorite things — heist movies and magic — and working with this incredible cast was truly magical. Of course I want to keep it going.”

IGN's reviews of the previous films were mixed. The original Now You See Me received a 6.3/10, with the review noting, “Now You See Me seemed so promising, but it squanders its cool cast and nifty premise on smarmy, shallow characters and a flimsy, nonsensical plot.” Now You See Me 2 fared slightly worse at 6.2/10, with the review stating, "Now You See Me 2 isn't the worst magic act in town, but it's all flash and no substance."
