Alexa Plus Now Available on Select Echo Show Devices

by Aurora Jun 17,2025

There's a new Alexa in town — or at least one that’s currently in early access. Meet *Alexa+*, the upgraded version of Amazon’s popular voice assistant, now enhanced with generative AI capabilities. This next-gen assistant introduces several new features, but its standout trait is the ability to engage in more natural and fluid conversations. As Amazon describes it, “*Alexa+ is more conversational, smarter, personalized – and she helps you get things done.*”

At the moment, Alexa+ is available in Early Access, though only on select Echo Show models — namely the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21. If you own or are planning to purchase one of these devices, you can be among the first to experience this enhanced assistant firsthand. Interested? Once the trial period concludes, Alexa+ will be offered as a free benefit for Amazon Prime members, or for non-Prime users at $19.99 per month.

Alexa+ Early Access Devices

  • Echo Show 8 – $149.99
  • Echo Show 10 – $249.99
  • Echo Show 15 – $299.99
  • Echo Show 21 – $399.99

Alexa+ Early Access

With Alexa+'s conversational design, you're no longer limited to short, structured commands. Instead, you can naturally ask follow-up questions, request assistance with complex tasks, or just chat in a way that feels intuitive. From managing your to-do list and pulling up calendar details, to booking a table at your favorite restaurant, Alexa+ aims to make daily routines easier and more efficient. Plus, Amazon has confirmed that “new features are being added regularly,” so expect even more functionality to roll out after the Early Access phase.

Device Compatibility & Future Plans

It’s important to note that not all Echo devices are compatible with Alexa+. Older models like the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen will continue to run the standard Alexa experience. However, Amazon has stated plans to soon expand Alexa+ support to more platforms, including Fire TV, Fire tablets, and the web-based Alexa.com.

If you’re looking to upgrade your smart home experience with a more intelligent and responsive assistant, Alexa+ could be the leap forward you’ve been waiting for. Stay tuned for broader availability and expanded device support in the near future.
