After months of swirling rumors and tantalizing leaks, Bethesda is poised to officially unveil the much-anticipated remaster of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion tomorrow. The announcement is set for 8am PT/11am ET, and fans can catch the reveal live on both YouTube and Twitch.
The official Bethesda Twitter/X account dropped a teaser today featuring a prominent "IV" and a background strikingly reminiscent of iconic Oblivion artwork, strongly hinting at what's to come. The gaming community has been buzzing about an Oblivion remake for what feels like an eternity. Initial whispers turned into solid leaks, starting with a 2020 Bethesda release schedule that surfaced during the FTC vs. Microsoft trial in 2023, suggesting an Oblivion remaster was on the cards for fiscal year 2022. Although the document was outdated, and the mentioned release window had passed, it was initially dismissed as a potentially canceled project.
However, the rumors gained traction in January of this year with another leak, this time indicating a full-blown remake developed by Bethesda in collaboration with support studio Virtuos. The speculation reached a fever pitch last week when leaks from Virtuos' website emerged, showcasing images of the remake in development.
If these recent leaks hold true, The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered will hit PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms. Fans can look forward to a Deluxe Edition, complete with the infamous horse armor, in addition to the standard version.
Mark your calendars and tune in tomorrow for what promises to be the confirmation of these exciting developments and further juicy details about this beloved classic's return.
