Black Ops 6: Major Announcement January 28th

Summary

  • Treyarch confirms Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2 begins Tuesday, January 28th.
  • Season 1 lasted 75 days, one of the longest in Call of Duty history.
  • Details on Season 2 content remain scarce, but Treyarch hinted at more classic map remasters.

Developer Treyarch Studios has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's second season, launching alongside new content for the free-to-play battle royale title Call of Duty: Warzone, arrives Tuesday, January 28th. Season 1, which began November 14th, will have run for 75 days—one of the longest seasons in Call of Duty history.

Despite Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's initial success—boasting record player numbers in its first month and becoming the largest Call of Duty game to date—it has experienced a recent player decline. This drop is attributed to ongoing cheating issues in Ranked Play and persistent server problems. Season 2 is anticipated to revitalize the game with fresh content and improvements.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2 Release Date Confirmed

Treyarch Studios confirmed the January 28th Season 2 release date in a recent Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 update. While addressing Zombie mode issues in the January 9th patch notes, they mentioned fixes delayed until the next season, subsequently confirming the January 28th launch. A detailed blog post unveiling Season 2's content is expected soon.

Season 1 delivered a wealth of new multiplayer maps, modes, weapons, and events. It also marked a significant update for Warzone, integrating Black Ops 6's movement system, weapons, gameplay updates, and the new Area-99 Resurgence map. The season also saw the return of popular maps like Nuketown and Hacienda from Black Ops 4.

While specifics for Season 2 remain under wraps, Treyarch previously teased more classic map remasters for Black Ops 6. In a December interview, Associate Creative Director Miles Leslie stated that no Black Ops map is excluded from remaster consideration, although original maps remain a priority.
