Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, is aiming for Witcher 3-level quality in their debut open-world vampire RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker. Despite a smaller scope, the team prioritizes high-quality development.
Creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, in an interview with GamesRadar, clarified the game's ambition. While acknowledging the studio's size and the project's debut status, he emphasized their commitment to AAA standards. He stated, "In terms of quality, we definitely look at AAA, because this is where we are coming from, the quality level of The Witcher 3."
The team, boasting veterans from The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, aims for a tightly-crafted experience rather than sprawling content. Tomaszkiewicz anticipates a 30-40 hour main campaign, arguing that playtime isn't the sole determinant of AAA status, citing examples like Call of Duty.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is a narrative-driven, open-world dark fantasy RPG set in Vale Sangora. Players embody Coen, a peasant imbued with vampiric powers, embarking on a quest to save his sister while navigating a hostile world.
Currently, there's no official release date, but a gameplay reveal is planned for Summer 2025. The game is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
