In the enchanting world of *Fields of Mistria*, the March 2025 update brings the much-anticipated feature of unlocking Caldarus as a romanceable character. This guide will walk you through how to unlock his romance questline, delve into event specifics, and highlight his gift preferences to foster a deeper connection with this intriguing character.

How to Unlock Caldarus as a Romanceable Character in Fields of Mistria

To embark on a romantic journey with Caldarus in *Fields of Mistria*, you must first break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. To do this, you'll need to offer four specific items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot. Upon completing the offering, a dramatic cutscene unfolds where the Mines Priestess warns the farmer to leave or risk being sealed. As your health depletes, Caldarus heroically intervenes, transforming into his human form and gifting you the Dragon’s Breath spell before retreating to the Deep Woods. In this new form, you can engage in daily conversations and gift-giving with Caldarus, similar to other romanceable NPCs in Mistria.

After breaking the Fire Seal, Caldarus can be found exclusively at his temple in the Deep Woods. To permanently unlock this area on your map, you'll need to use the Dragon’s Breath spell.

Caldarus’ Heart Events in Fields of Mistria

With the March 2025 update, Caldarus starts with a heart level of six, which is currently the cap. Unfortunately, there are no additional heart events available for Caldarus at this time, but future updates are expected to expand on this. Currently, you can experience two cutscenes involving the dragon: an introductory dream sequence at the game's start, which sets the stage for Mistria’s magic system, and a pivotal scene where Caldarus saves the farmer from being sealed after breaking the Fire Seal, revealing his human form and retreating to recover.

Post-update, you can also trigger a special date with Caldarus during the Shooting Star Festival, which takes place on Summer 28.

The Shooting Star Festival

The Shooting Star Festival marks the end of summer in *Fields of Mistria*, offering a chance to take any romanceable NPC with four or more hearts on a date to the Summit to watch the stars. With Caldarus starting at six hearts, you're automatically eligible to go with him. To set up your date, gift him the Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28 and meet up afterward to confirm your attendance. This will initiate a cutscene of your romantic evening. During the date, Caldarus expresses gratitude for the invitation, discusses the stars, and delves into the Mistrian tradition of Starbinding. The conversation touches on deep themes of connection and fate, hinting at past lives and future possibilities. As the night progresses, Caldarus, feeling fatigued, invites you to continue watching the stars from his temple.
