Capcom Revives Dino Crisis: Trademark Filed

by Jacob Apr 23,2025

Capcom has recently taken a significant step that has reignited the hopes of fans by filing an application to register the Dino Crisis trademark in Japan. This move, now publicly accessible, does not confirm the release of a new game, but it certainly hints at Capcom's active interest in reviving this beloved franchise.

Securing the Dino Crisis trademark could be Capcom's way of setting the stage for upcoming projects, possibly including a remake of the iconic dinosaur survival horror series. Originally crafted by Shinji Mikami, the creative genius behind Resident Evil, Dino Crisis first launched in 1999 on the PlayStation 1. The series continued with two sequels, but after the third game hit the shelves in 2003, it went quiet, leaving fans both puzzled and eager for more.

These speculations are not without foundation. Last year, Capcom expressed its commitment to "revitalize older franchises that haven’t seen new releases in recent years." This statement followed closely on the heels of announcements for an Okami sequel and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Moreover, a fan-driven poll conducted by Capcom in the summer of 2024 saw Dino Crisis topping the charts in the "most desired continuation" category, further stoking the flames of anticipation for its return.
