How To Complete Under the Straw Hat Side Quest in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 (KCD2)

Some quests in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* require a trip to Kuttenberg before you can even begin. However, reaching Kuttenberg unlocks inter-region travel, opening up a world of new adventures. Let's explore how to complete the "Under the Straw Hat" quest.

Before tackling "Under the Straw Hat," you must first start "In Vino Veritas." This side quest unfolds in Kuttenberg. Upon arrival, seek out Casper Rudolf, offering free wine samples on the city's west side. He needs your help gathering information to improve his winemaking.

You can either impress Havel with your wine knowledge directly, or retrieve Casper's book from Adleta and learn more about wine. If you choose to approach Havel directly, ensure you're well-dressed and clean. When speaking with Havel, select "Germany," "Steinberger," and "It's missing ginger" to obtain the necessary information. Return to Casper with your findings.

Accessing the Vineyard

Casper now tasks you with infiltrating the vineyard north of Kuttenberg to discover more about the incense Havel mentioned. Avoid trespassing by following the main road into the vineyard and speaking with the recruiter. This interaction triggers the "Under the Straw Hat" quest. Continue along the road, passing a guard before reaching Jerome, seated on a bench.

Inform Jerome of your assignment. He'll provide details about working at the vineyard.

Working at the Vineyard

Your vineyard work begins the following day. Rest at an inn and return to the vineyard in the morning. To earn payment, move sacks to their designated locations and harvest thistles growing near the vines. Alternatively, you can directly search for the secret incense.

The incense is located in the wine cellar, found in the main building's downstairs area. Access is restricted, so avoid detection. Use a lockpick or steal the keys from Jerome to enter. Locate the chest within the cellar and retrieve the Sulphur Wicks to complete the main objective. For an added reward, collect five seedlings for Casper. These are also located in a restricted area; be swift in your collection.

If you chose to complete your work tasks, collect your payment from Jerome at the day's end. Otherwise, return to Casper with the wicks and any collected seedlings to complete both "Under the Straw Hat" and "In Vino Veritas." Now you can move on to other side quests, such as "Master Schindel's Toys."
