Fans of the acclaimed roguelike Dead Cells have faced a setback with the announcement that the final two free updates for the mobile version have been delayed. Developer Playdigious shared the unfortunate news, but also provided a silver lining: the updates, named Clean Cut and The End is Near, are now scheduled to launch on February 18th, 2025. Let's dive into what these updates will bring to the mobile gaming experience.
Given that these updates have already rolled out for console and PC versions, we have a clear picture of what's on the horizon. Clean Cut introduces exciting new weapons tailored for different playstyles: the Survival-focused Sewing Scissors and the Brutality-focused Giant Comb. Additionally, a new NPC, the Tailor's Daughter, will allow players to customize their character's head appearance, enhancing the game's personalization options.
On the other hand, The End is Near lives up to its ominous title by adding a variety of new mobs, including the Sore Loser, Curser, and Doom Bringer. Players can also look forward to new skills and color-neutral mutations, such as Demonic Strength, which offers a significant damage boost of 30% when cursed, increasing by 1% per Curse stack.
Despite the delay, Playdigious has consistently delivered substantial free content updates to Dead Cells over the years. Although the end of these free updates has stirred some discontent among fans (as the studio shifts focus to other projects), the wealth of content added justifies their decision to move on.
Mark your calendars for February 18th, 2025, as both Clean Cut and The End is Near will simultaneously hit Android and iOS platforms, concluding the free update saga for Dead Cells on mobile.
