Destiny 2 is entering an exciting new chapter with the reveal of its *Year of Prophecy* roadmap, and fans have plenty to look forward to. During the Edge of Fate reveal livestream on May 7, developer Bungie shared details about what players can expect throughout the year—including two major paid expansions and two free updates available to all players. This marks a shift in Destiny 2’s annual content structure, ensuring that every player, regardless of purchase tier, gets access to major in-game events.
The first major expansion of the Year of Prophecy, *The Edge of Fate*, launches on July 15. Guardians will journey to Kepler-10, a mysterious new world filled with untapped power and unknown dangers. Alongside the story-driven campaign, players will gain access to new abilities, allies, and mechanics designed to enhance combat and exploration.
One of the most anticipated features is the introduction of the Portal, a revamped activity selection screen offering instant access to various gameplay modes tailored to different playstyles. This update also includes significant changes to armor systems, set bonuses, and character stats—though more details will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Later this year on December 2, Destiny 2 will launch its second expansion, *Renegades*, developed in collaboration with the legendary *Star Wars* franchise. This unique crossover blends Destiny's signature storytelling and gameplay with the rich lore and themes of *Star Wars*, creating a sci-fi narrative integral to the overarching Fate Saga.
Players can expect new characters, mechanics, and exclusive content that celebrates both universes. This expansion promises to deliver a fresh experience while maintaining the core elements that Destiny 2 fans love.
As Destiny 2 approaches its eighth year, Bungie continues to push creative boundaries with bold storytelling, immersive gameplay, and expansive collaborations like the *Star Wars* crossover. With the *Year of Prophecy*, the game is set to deliver one of its most ambitious chapters yet.
Destiny 2 is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates as the release dates approach!
