On April 16, they shared, "We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. The Witcher 4 was unveiled at the Game Awards in December 2024, accompanied by a trailer that introduced Ciri as the game's protagonist—a significant shift from the series' traditional hero, Geralt. This announcement sparked widespread discussion within the gaming community.

In an interview with VGC, The Witcher 4's Narrative Director, Phillipp Weber, addressed fan reactions to Ciri's new role. He acknowledged the attachment fans have to Geralt but reassured them that the team is committed to making Ciri's journey compelling. "The best thing that we can do, and I think this is really our goal, is to prove that with Ciri, we can do a lot of interesting things so we can really make it worth it because this decision to have Ciri as a protagonist wasn’t made yesterday, we started making this a very long time ago," Weber stated.

The Witcher 4's Executive Producer, Małgorzata Mitręga, expressed gratitude for the support received regarding Ciri's lead role. "Everyone has the right to have an opinion, and we do believe it comes from the passion for our games and I think the best answer for that will be the game itself when the game is released," he noted.

The Witcher 4 is poised to be the most ambitious entry in the series, introducing new regions and monsters. It is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though no specific release date has been announced. Stay tuned to our site for the latest updates on The Witcher 4!
