EC Comics Unveils Gruesome New Vampire Series

Oni Press has experienced a surge of momentum thanks to its successful revival of the legendary EC Comics brand. This summer, that momentum will build even further with the launch of *Blood Type*, an all-new vampire-centric comic series spun out from the pages of the anthology title *Epitaphs From the Abyss*.

*Blood Type* marks the first in a series of upcoming EC Comics spinoff titles set to arrive this Summer 2025. The series is penned by Corinna Bechko (*Cruel Universe*, *Green Lantern: Earth One*) and brought to life visually by Andrea Sorrentino (*Gideon Falls*, *Old Man Logan*), with coloring by Dave Stewart (*Hellboy*). The debut issue features striking cover art by Sorrentino, Miguel Mercado (*Buffy the Vampire Slayer*), Albert Monteys (*Universe!*), and Naomi Franq (*Black Hammer: Barbalien*).

*WHEN YOU'RE A VAMPIRE, EVERYBODY SUCKS . . . SOONER OR LATER! Meet Ada, an immortal vampire whose dark past leads her to the gates of a luxurious Caribbean resort—an island paradise filled with wealthy tourists and wary locals, making it the perfect feeding ground for a vamp looking to escape. But as Ada explores her new hunting grounds, she becomes entangled in a deadly nocturnal game of cat and mouse when an older, more cunning predator emerges—one driven not by hunger, but by greed and power. Who will survive when a new kind of BLOOD TYPE declares war on a bloodthirsty vampire with nothing left to lose—and what remains of those caught in the crossfire?

She’s here to take over a tropical paradise, and she’s not asking permission.”

Sorrentino added, “I think horror is where my heart lies. While I've worked across various genres like superheroes and sci-fi, horror is where I feel most creatively fulfilled. The chance to tap into readers' deepest fears through visuals is both challenging and deeply rewarding. So when I was invited to collaborate with EC Comics—one of the greatest names in horror comics—to create two short stories and then launch this exciting limited series, I felt honored. Working alongside Corinna Bechko and my longtime collaborator Dave Stewart on colors is a dream team situation. It's going to be a blast, and I can't wait for fans to see what we’ve created together!”

Blood Type #1 hits shelves on June 18, 2025. In addition, Oni Press will reissue the original *Blood Type* short story as part of the Free Comic Book Day 2025 special, titled *EC Presents: Blood Type #0*.
