Exciting news for fans of the classic strategy game, ROME: Total War, on Android! Feral Interactive has just released the massive Imperium Update, enhancing your gaming experience with a slew of gameplay tweaks, control improvements, and quality-of-life features. If you've been enjoying this iconic title since its Android debut in 2018, you're in for a treat with these updates. Plus, the same enhancements are slated to roll out next week for the standalone expansions, Barbarian Invasion and Alexander.
The Imperium Update introduces some of the most appreciated features from Feral’s more recent mobile titles, such as Total War: MEDIEVAL II and EMPIRE. Now, ROME: Total War boasts three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection. These additions grant you enhanced command over your units, making battles more precise and engaging. You can now move your army, agents, or fleets by simply tapping and holding, eliminating the need to drag paths manually.
With the new Positioning Mode, you can fine-tune your unit placements with ease by tapping and holding. The Group Grid feature simplifies the management of unit groups with a user-friendly, collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode is a game-changer, allowing ranged units to seamlessly switch to close combat when the situation demands it.
One of the most significant enhancements is the Command Slowdown feature, which automatically slows the game down when you're issuing complex orders, ensuring you don't miss a beat. For the first time, keyboard and mouse support has been added for Android (and iPad), giving you even more control over your gameplay.
The minimap in ROME: Total War has also been revamped to mirror the intuitive design found in MEDIEVAL II, complete with smoother zooming and navigation. A handy reset button allows you to quickly revert to the default view, making it easier to stay on top of the action.
The Imperium Update is now live, so if you own ROME: Total War on Android, head over to the Google Play Store to install it and experience these improvements firsthand. Keep an eye out for next week's updates to Barbarian Invasion and Alexander, which promise to bring the same level of enhancement to these expansions.
