In response to player feedback, Final Fantasy 14 has announced that Patch 7.16, set to release on January 21, will introduce a significant update to the reward system of the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid. Players will now be able to exchange their excess Clouddark Demimateria 1 for Clouddark Demimateria 2. This change aims to facilitate access to coveted items such as the A Half Times Two hairstyle and the Dais of Darkness mount, which require 49 and 75 Clouddark Demimateria 2 respectively.
Introduced on December 24, the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid challenges up to 24 players to battle against the iconic final boss from A Realm Reborn's World of Darkness, with added mechanics inspired by Shadowbringers' Eden raid series. Successful clears reward players with Clouddark Demimateria 1 and 2, with additional amounts of the latter awarded for first-time completions.
While the exact exchange rate for Clouddark Demimateria 1 to 2 remains undisclosed, this adjustment will not only enhance the accessibility of high-demand items but also potentially influence their market board prices once Patch 7.16 goes live. Square Enix has indicated that this change is a direct response to community feedback and hinted at the possibility of further modifications in future updates based on continued player input.
Patch 7.16 marks Final Fantasy 14's first content update of 2025, spotlighting the conclusion of the Dawntrail Role Quest series. Although major job balance updates are not expected in this patch, players can anticipate such changes in the upcoming Patch 7.2. With more raid content scheduled throughout the year, the impact of player feedback on these updates will be closely watched.
