FromSoftware Completes Elden Ring Nightreign Server Maintenance for Better Matchmaking

Elden Ring Nightreign developer FromSoftware has completed a new round of server maintenance aimed at enhancing matchmaking performance.

During the game’s launch weekend, FromSoftware acknowledged issues with expedition matchmaking and advised players to restart the matchmaking process. PlayStation 4 and 5 users were also encouraged to check their NAT type for optimal connectivity.

Following maintenance carried out on June 6—focused on improving matchmaking for expeditions with an active Remembrance—online services have been fully restored. Players are now anticipating a smoother and more reliable multiplayer experience.

“Thank you for your patience, Nightfarers,” FromSoftware stated. “Limveld awaits.”

Despite the technical hurdles, Elden Ring Nightreign achieved 3.5 million sales within just five days of release. While this marks a strong start, it remains far below the original Elden Ring’s success, which has sold over 30 million copies since its 2022 launch. For context, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion reached 5 million copies sold in only three days upon its 2024 release.

Player sentiment on Steam has shifted positively, with Nightreign’s review rating moving from 'mixed' to 'mostly positive.' Early criticism centered on the game’s punishing solo experience, absence of duos co-op, lack of voice chat, and outdated mechanics.

In response, FromSoftware released a patch earlier this week to ease solo gameplay and confirmed that Duos mode is currently in development and will arrive in a future update.

Looking ahead, FromSoftware has announced that in addition to the upcoming DLC set for release later this year, new features will be "gradually implemented," including enhanced encounters with existing Nightlords beginning this month.
