Bethesda and id Software unveiled a fresh DOOM: The Dark Ages gameplay demo at the Xbox showcase, confirming earlier leaks pointing to a May 15th release date.
This medieval-themed installment offers a distinct gameplay experience compared to DOOM: Eternal. Forget the frantic jumping and parkour; The Dark Ages emphasizes grounded combat, transforming the player into a brutal, tank-like demon-slaying force. The focus shifts to strategic use of a powerful arsenal, rather than constant mobility.
Central to this brutal efficiency are a shield and mace, providing a new tactical dimension to the combat. For the first time in the series, players will command a giant mech to decimate hordes of smaller demons. Further adding to the epic scale, players will even get to ride a dragon during the campaign.
A flexible difficulty system allows players to tailor the challenge to their preference, adjusting enemy damage output and other parameters.
