Sony and game developer Santa Monica Studio have unveiled the highly anticipated Dark Odyssey collection, a free update for God of War Ragnarök that will be available to players starting March 20. This update celebrates the 20th anniversary of the God of War franchise and includes a variety of in-game cosmetic items themed around one of the series' most iconic outfits.
In a detailed PlayStation.Blog post, Sony outlined the extensive range of content coming with the Dark Odyssey update, which is set to enhance the experience for all God of War Ragnarök players on PlayStation 5 and PC. The update features a sleek black-and-gold aesthetic, designed to make Kratos and his companions look more formidable as they navigate the realms of Norse mythology.
Atreus and Freya are not left out, receiving their own unique cosmetic sets alongside a range of customizable shields and weapons for players. The highlight of the Dark Odyssey collection is undoubtedly the armor set and appearance for Kratos, which pays homage to a skin from God of War 2 that was previously exclusive to those who conquered the game on God Mode difficulty.
Players can unlock this coveted content by accessing any Lost Items chest in the base game or directly through the roguelike Valhalla mode once the update is live. Additionally, the update introduces the much-requested feature to customize the appearance of Kratos' weapons without altering their abilities.
